Every year we celebrate a unique and delicious event in our beloved A Arnoia, the festival of our pepper.
This year we gathered on the 4th, 5th and 6th of August to enjoy our culture, tradition and to savour the local gastronomy. Celebrating the 44th edition.
All expectations were exceeded, with people from different places joining us, more than in the last edition. Among those savouring our gastronomy there were Germans, Swiss and lots of French visitors.
There is no other pepper like ours!
More than 3,000 kg of peppers protected under their Protected Geographical Indication were prepared. Fried, in omelette, stuffed, pepper croquettes and so on. To cool ourselves down, we surprised the event with A Arnoia pepper ice cream, and all stocks sold out.
Music and activities:
The festival kicked off with the comedian Víctor Fábregas in charge of the opening speech and the welcome of the authorities to the event. Among the attendees were the Regional Minister for Rural Affairs, José González; the Minister for Culture, Román Rodríguez; the President of the Parliament, Miguel Santalices; the President of the Provincial Council, Luís Menor; the Director of Tourism of Galicia, Xosé Manuel Merelles, and the Xunta’s territorial delegate, Gabriel Alén.
We offered a wide range of activities for all ages, such as the Pepper Classic Vehicle Meet-up, children’s games, olympics and so on.
The music did not stop playing during these 3 days of revelry; hugely important bands and orchestras accompanied us these days, such as: Espectáculo Funçao, Cinema, Bafana Bafana, Broken Peach and disco music with Discomovil MVP Music.
We like to keep the festival lively at all times, and the ones in charge of that were Charanga CLK and Charanga Sorcha.
Traditional music was not missing either; we were able to enjoy the VII Festival de pandereteiras “Arnoia Viva”, Pan sen Fron, Pandereteiras de Sadeo and Airiños de Arnoia.
Our Festa do Pemento de A Arnoia is more than just a culinary event; it is a window into the culture, history and community of Galicia.
